The Advanced Placement Drawing is a college-level course. The goal of the class is the creation of a portfolio of 24 artworks that demonstrate a student’s mastery of concept, composition, and execution of drawing or 2-D design.
The course emphasizes making art as an ongoing process that involves the student in informed and critical decision making. A sketchbook is required and will be used for in class assignments, weekly assigned sketches from observation, as well as individual investigations and ideas.
The course includes group and individual student critiques and instructional conversations with the teacher, enabling students to learn to analyze and discuss their own artworks and those of their peers. Readings will be assigned occasionally and artworks from art history and contemporary artists will be discussed.
