Higley Unified School District will offer summer school in June 2019. Two options are available for students: credit recovery classes and P.E. for credit acceleration. All classes will be held at Higley High School.
HUSD is offering two summer sessions at Higley High School for any student who has failed a class. First session is for first semester. Second session is for second semester. The following courses are scheduled at this time:
These classes will give students the opportunity to learn the material they did not learn during the school year and to continue on their path toward on-time graduation.Classes will be offered from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Monday through Thursday. Two sessions are available:
- English 9 (Semester 1 and 2)
- English 10 (Semester 1 and 2)
- English 11 (Semester 1 and 2)
- Biology (Semester 1 and 2)
- Algebra I (Semester 1 and 2)
- Algebra II (Semester 1 and 2)
- Geometry (Semester 1 and 2)
- June 3 – June 13
- June 17- June 27
Each session will be worth half a credit (.5) and will give students the opportunity to retake the class with a qualified instructor.
In addition to the in-person classes, the following courses will be offered in a computer-lab setting for CREDIT RECOVERY ONLY:
- American/AZ History (Semester 1 and 2)
- World History (Semester 1 and 2)
- Government (One Semester only)
- Economics (One Semester only)
- English 12 (Semester 1 and 2)
- Chemistry (Semester 1 and 2)
Classes will be offered from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. on Monday through Thursday. Two sessions are available:
- June 3 – June 13
- June 17- June 27
Each session will be worth half a credit (.5) and allow students to take the course with the oversight of a certified instructor.
HUSD is offering a PE summer session at Higley High School for credit acceleration. This session will be worth one credit (1.0).
The session will be offered on Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. June 3-20.
Students may only take one course per session. Students are not able to take both a credit recovery session and P.E.
This course is for students who need a little extra support to be successful in Algebra I as freshmen. This is an opportunity to help students cover key elements essential to Algebra I.The session wil run 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 3-20. No credit will be awarded for this class.The cost for Pre-Algebra Boost is $250.** All summer school classes are contingent on student registration.**
Middle School Mathematics Boost
This course is designed for the future middle school student who is looking for additional help in common areas of misconception before beginning their 7th grade year. Concepts and foundational skills of Middle School Mathematics will be used in real world context so that the student enhances their current skill set, and feels ready for the enhanced pacing of middle schoolThe session will run 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 3-20. No credit will be awarded for this class.The cost for Middle School Math Boost is $250.After visiting with your current math teacher, register online.** All summer school classes are contingent on student registration.**
Students who wish to enroll in any summer school class must have a consultation and signature of a high school counselor.Academic courses cost $180 per session. P.E. and Pre-Algebra Boost and Middle School Math Boost cost $250. More details are available in the counselors’ offices.Online registration for first session is due by May 10. Online registration for second session is due by May 24. No refunds will be made after the first day of each session.Note: Students must meet with their counselor if they are interested in enrolling in summer school courses outside of HUSD.
