    “Growing Learners into Leaders”

Attendance- Your child’s school success depends on their attendance as most activities are in need of student interaction. Please view school as a priority, and see to it that your child attends every day except in cases of illness or emergency. If your child is ill or there is an emergency please call the attendance line 480.279.6900.

Behavior- Our classroom has a clip chart for rewards and consequences. Each day is a new day and everyone starts off at green. Your child can move up or down depending on their behavior. If your child CHOOSES to break a classroom rule, his/her clip will be moved down:

Pink - Outstanding! - treasure box
Purple - Awesome! -  treasure box
Blue - great! - sticker on chart (five blues=treasure box)
Green - good day! (everyone starts on green)
    Yellow - warning
    Orange - note home
    Red - parent contact

Emergencies-Should there be an emergency and you need to take your child from school early, please go through the office first.

Folders-Your child will bring home a folder daily. Please check the folder daily for notes, forms, and important information. Please remember to help make your child responsible for putting their folder in their backpack and remembering it every day. If you have notes to send me, please put them in this folder.

Homework-Homework will be sent weekly. The packet will be sent home on Monday and will be due on Friday.

Lunch can be purchased in the cafeteria for $2.55. Your child may also bring their lunch to school.

Meetings-I believe that a good parent-teacher relationship is necessary for maximum school success. Throughout the year I will communicate with you through notes, weekly newsletters, report cards, and parent/teacher conferences. I encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. You can call me at school or send me a note. I am available for conferences regarding your child’s progress before or after school or by appointment on school days.

Names-Be sure to put your child’s name on his/her personal belongings (jackets, sweaters, backpacks, lunchboxes, water-bottles, etc.)

Name Tag- Your child will be given a name badge at the beginning of the year. They will wear this all day and return it to me before they go home. If they have it on when they go home, that means they did not say bye to me.  Your child will wear this name badge until the middle of November. It will contain their name, transportation, and lunch number. If your child comes home with this name badge, please send it with them the next day to school.

Parties-Birthdays will be celebrated during the last hour of class. Summer birthdays (June, July and August) will be celebrated in May. If you are planning on bringing or sending in treats for your child’s birthday, please contact me a few days prior to let me know.

Report Cards-A Conference will be held in the fall and spring to discuss your child’s progress.

Rules-Following is a list of our classroom rules:

    1. Be safe

    2. Be responsible

    3. Be respectful

School Hours- Regular School Day: 8:10-3:05

Early Release Day: 8:10-1:00 – every Wednesday

Students are allowed on campus starting at 7:45 unless in the Kids Club before school care.

Snack- each month a snack calendar will be sent home, you will be responsible for providing a small snack for the entire class about once a month. Your child will bring home the snack bag the night before they have to provide the snack. Please send in the class snack in the snack bag. If your child has any food allergies, please let me know as soon as possible.

Transportation-Please make sure your child knows or learns quickly how they go home. If they are asked by an adult, they will need to be able to verbally say how they go home. *If your child is going home a different way than usual-I will need a WRITTEN NOTE from a parent or guardian. Do not rely on your child to tell me this information, because children often become confused and relay messages incorrectly. If no written note is received, your child will be sent home by his/her usual method of transportation.

Treasure Chest-This is a reward that each child will be working toward every week by keeping his/her clip on or above green.

Volunteers- If you are interested of plan on volunteering in the classroom, you will need to compete and turn in the volunteer packet to the office. This includes in the classroom volunteering and field-trips. I will also have work that can be sent home to volunteer your time at home.

Weekly Assessments-Each week starting in September, your child will be given a math, reading/language, and writing assessment on the state standards that have been introduced. These assessments will be sent home after they have been graded and recorded. The assessments will be explained in detail at Parent-Teacher Conferences.
