Knight of the Month for January
Mathias White (AKA Tay Tay) is the Knight of the Month for January
Nominated by Ms. Stafford
Tay Tay, has been a lifesaver to our 3rd hour. We have a student who speaks almost exclusively in Spanish and is trying to learn despite this learning challenge. From day one, Tay Tay stepped up indicating that he could help interpret for them. On a daily basis, he helps me explain lessons, clarify responses, and aid this student in learning. It is impressive to watch him code switch, but more impressive is his selfless attitude in ensuring that his classmates are learning. Tay Tay asks questions constantly to ensure he is doing assignments correctly, emails when he is absent to make sure he knows what the make-up work is, and demonstrates an attitude of scholarship throughout the class. He is kind, unselfish, and focused on scholarship and learning; all characteristics of a Knight.
Knight of the Month for December
Ryan Oko is the December Knight of the Month
Nominated by Ms. Ament
Ryan Oko joined us this year from out of state and is a wonderful addition to the Kingdom. Every day Ryan makes sure to say hello as he is coming into class and goodbye as he is leaving class. He has been an excellent role model for his peers by always taking the best notes, asking questions to further his understanding, and coming to talk to me about when he will be absent. Ryan makes it a point to do all of his work, not just to have a good grade, but to also understand the content. He also takes it upon himself to help and encourage the classmates around him that are struggling with the problems. I have really enjoyed having Ryan as a student and getting to see how he has blossomed here at Higley.
