Hello and welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! My name is Mrs. Jessica Kadner (Mrs. K.) and this is my first-year teaching here at Higley High. Previously, I was working for the Arizona House of Representatives Research Staff, and before that I was a licensed substitute in the state of Oregon as well as a pre-school teacher. My passion is being inside the classroom, and I am excited to be part of the team here at Higley.
I have three beautiful daughters, a miniature dachshund, a tortoise, and a very supportive husband who cheers us on every step of the way. I enjoy outdoor activities like biking, hiking, camping and off-roading. One of my favorite places is the beach, and I have a huge passion for classic movies and music of all varieties.
I believe that our educational journey starts with strong, positive relationships in the classroom, and I hope to create thoughtful and supportive connections with my students. This can help them develop necessary skills for their future, like creating meaningful, supportive relationships, that will stay with them throughout their lives. I believe this can be done with a safe, open and positive classroom environment, where students are treated like young adults, who can think critically and create their own thoughts and opinions that can be discussed in a positive way.
