Welcome to Ms. Dunton’s Kindergarten classroom. I was born in Nebraska but spent most of my childhood growing up in Mesa, Arizona. I graduated from Arizona State University (Go Sun Devils) in 2008 with my Early Childhood Education degree. After college I taught Kindergarten for three years in the Kyrene School District then took a short break to start our family. This will be my 15th year teaching Kindergarten and my 12th year at Cortina.
Whenever I’m not at school I enjoy spending time with my daughter, family and friends, working out, doing Zumba, watching movies and of course shopping. Our family loves anything to do with sports and going on vacations. We love being outdoors enjoying the warm sunshine as well.
My teaching philosophy is to create a safe, loving, and educational environment where students become lifelong confident learners. I believe that children learn best when given hands on activities that allow them to explore, ask questions, and find solutions. This is going to be a wonderful year full of learning and growing. I am very excited to work with you and your child to enrich their lives with a passion and love for learning. I can’t wait for another awesome school year! Go Tigers!
