Summer school, district office hours
As campuses come to the end of the school year, please note the changes in office hours around the district:
During the week of May 29, 2017, the District Office and school offices will be on a normal school-year schedule.
Elementary offices will close on June 2nd and reopen July 10th.
Beginning June 5th, district, middle school and high school offices will be open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday.
If you wish to register your child for the 2017-18 school year after June 5, please read the following information:
Student registrations for elementary schools will be taken at the district office, 2935 S. Recker Road, Gilbert, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, June 5-July 6 (offices are closed July 4).
Student registrations for middle school and high school will be taken 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday, June 5-July 6 (offices are closed July 3-7)
Enrollment information can be found at www.husd.org/enrollment. Please be sure to bring all the necessary documents when enrolling.
Kids Club Summer Camp Registration opens Friday, May 5
Higley Unified School District offers a fun-filled summer luau-themed camp program for children ages 3-12. Weekly activities include field trips, swimming and movies.
When: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 5 – July 14 (Camp closed July 3-4)
Where: Centennial Elementary School, 3507 S. Ranch House Parkway, Gilbert, AZ. 85297
Cost: $40 daily/includes snack (please provide a sack lunch)
Families must register and pick camp schedule online. All new and current Kids Club families must complete new registration packets – which will be good through the 2017-18 school year.
Sign up for a week at a time or the entire summer. All payments are due at time of registration. Space is limited. Secure your spot today.
Each week’s registration deadline is the Thursday prior.

Higley summer program information now online
Join Higley Unified School District's Community Education Department this summer for fun-filled activities, including summer camp, enrichment classes, and sports camps. High school students can enroll in summer school for credit recovery or P.E..

Join the Higley Unified School District Orchestra Program
Elementary school orchestra will be offered to all 4th-6th graders who are interested in playing the violin, viola, cello, or string bass during the 2017-2018 school year. Classes will meet two to three times a week from 6:45 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. at San Tan Elementary. Transportation from orchestra to the student’s elementary schools will be provided by HUSD
Students will need to have an instrument to participate. Some instruments will be available to rent from the district for a small fee. Other instruments will need to be rented from local music stores or purchased
If you are interested in having your child join orchestra either as a beginning or returning student, please complete the registration form and return to the front office of your elementary school.
Classes will begin in August and more information will be available at the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year.

The Higley District is excited to announce that more than 90 percent of HUSD teachers plan to return next school year! In addition, 92 percent of Speech Pathologists and Therapists are returning and 100 percent of school counselors and psychologists are returning.

Higley Program for Accelerated Learning information meetings
Bridges Elementary provides an exemplary educational opportunity designed for gifted and talented students in grades 3-6. Higley’s Program for Accelerated Learning (HPAL) joins identified gifted and high achieving students with a platform aimed to take them to a deeper more rigorous way of thinking. Each grade level’s accelerated curriculum is designed to challenge students through differentiated instruction. Specially trained teachers will guide students at an accelerated pace, employing innovative project-based learning techniques that emphasize the use of cutting-edge technology. Students will be prepared for accelerated pathways in both middle school and high school.

Bridges named AZ STEM School of Community PracticeHigley Unified School District’s newest elementary school has been named an AZ STEM School Community of Practice.
Bridges Elementary School joins 56 schools from across the state to collaborate with Maricopa Education Service Agency, Arizona SciTech, Intel and the Arizona Science Center.
“This is an amazing opportunity for our school community to learn from other innovative schools within the state. Many collaborative opportunities are planned throughout this next school year that will certainly put us on the road to excellence in terms of STEM,” Bridges Principal Sherry Richards said.STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
