Higley Unified School District’s Patricia Gleason, director of the early childhood development centers, shares information about what children should know as they enter kindergarten. She also discusses how parents can do to help children prepare for that transition.
Welcome to Higley Unified School District! We look forward to meeting you and your child as you take the next step in the educational journey.
To determine what home school you live in, please look at our boundary maps. Enrollment packets may be printed off and turned into schools during office hours, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Please be sure to bring the following documents when registering your child, along with your completed registration packet:
• Child’s Birth Certificate
• Child’s Immunization Record
• Proof of Residency (contract on your house, rental or lease agreement, electric bill, etc.)
• Driver’s License
If your child will be 5 years of age by August 31, 2017, he or she qualifies for the 2017-2018 school year.
If your child will be 5 years of age between September 1, 2017 and December 31, 2017, you may consider having your child tested to see if he/she will qualify for early entrance kindergarten. There is a fee of $45.00 to cover the assessment. Applications and payment for the early entry assessment are collected at the Higley Unified School District Community Education Department at 1100 S. Recker Rd. Gilbert, 85296. The assessments begin in June and will conclude prior to the first day of school. Students who qualify for early entrance through the assessment may then enroll.
