Headlines & Features
The district has made the jump to online registration. This process will begin at SMS on Jan. 10th with presentations to current 7th graders. The online registration will open for students beginning on Jan. 10th and will close on Feb, 2nd. At that point, it will be open for parents to review student selections, approve or change and submit.
Reminder regarding drop-off of items
In an effort to prepare students for life beyond Sossaman, we encourage you to assist organizing them the night before for the day ahead to help eliminate items being dropped off. We do, however, allow the following:
• Medically needed items requested by the nurse or your doctor, and
• Items too large for the bus or too heavy for your child to carry.
Second Semester Reminders
We hope your holiday season has proven restful and that the New Year brings you nothing but positive energy. As we look forward to the start of our second semester we ask you to keep the following in mind:
Please be sure both you and your son and/or daughter have logged onto ParentVue/StudentVue to review their second semester schedule. Our hope is to begin the second semester on January 9th with all schedule corrections so academic instruction can be fully utilized. If you notice an issue (different core teacher than first semester, enrolled in 2 classes at the same time) please email our counselor, Mrs. Tonya Savalis.
HUSD Food Service Announcement
Beginning January 9, students without sufficient funds in their meal accounts to pay for a meal may be given a USDA approved alternative meal instead of the regular hot lunch.
Please check your student’s balance and make a deposit if needed at www.mymealtime.com
You may also send a check or cash in an envelope to your elementary or middle school office, or to the café with your high school student.
Please contact Food Service if you have any questions.
To help effectively monitor the level of your child’s academic progress, the Higley Unified School District provides a parent portal known as ParentVue. This detailed system grants you the opportunity to quickly and conveniently access grades, class schedules, attendance histories, assignment information, and other student information including messages from teachers. It is also designed to increase communication between schools and their families with our end goal of student success.
