HUSD Governing Board Selects New Superintendent
Higley Unified School District Governing Board members approved a new superintendent for the 2024-2025 School Year after a nationwide search and months-long selection process. Dr. Nate Carman has accepted the position and will take on the new role starting July 1.
Dr. Carman is currently the Superintendent of Socorro Independent School District in El Paso, Texas, serving more than 47,000 students on 51 campuses. Previously, he has served as superintendent in San Benito CISD and Teague ISD. He has also served as a district administrator, teacher, and coach.

Citizen's Committee Launched to Review Critical Needs for Higley Schools
In our ongoing efforts to promote transparency and community engagement, the Higley Unified School District is forming a citizen’s committee of community members, business leaders, parents, students, and education officials to seek their expertise and leadership in understanding the district’s critical school funding issues.
The citizen committee will meet regularly from January to March of 2024 to be briefed on key issues such as population growth, school funding, facility needs, technology, and public opinion research. They will also tour our school facilities.

Tax Credit Donation Reminder
We would like to remind families who are interested in making a tax credit donation this season, that this can be made for any one of our schools through our HUSD website.
An individual may claim a nonrefundable tax credit for making cash contributions or for certain fees paid to a public school located in Arizona.
To qualify for the credit, an individual must make contributions for qualifying expenditures per A.R.S. § 43-1089.01. The credit is equal to the amount of fees paid or cash contributions, not to exceed $400 for married filing joint filers and $200 for all other filing statuses.
