On Thursday, May 13th, during Higley Elementary and Middle School’s Night of Excellence, the Higley middle school hosted a Poetry Performance Contest. The participating students wrote their own original poems and then performed them from memory in front of their parents, teachers, and peers. They had the honor of having Tara Kissane, Denise Standage, and Debbora Woods serving as the judges panel. The winner was eighth grader Hanna Wolff, second place went to Haley Evans, and third place was awarded to Alyssa Kohnhorst.

Hanna Wolff is an eighth grader attending HEMS for her third year. She loves poetry and expressing her personality through both writing and performance. In her free time, she enjoys babysitting, scrap booking, and cuddling baby siblings. Her inspiration for the winning poem entitled, “High School Kingdom,” was inspired by her upcoming promotion.
