Dr. Denise Birdwell believes through an inclusive collaborative process with a shared vision and the students at the center of each decision we make as a school community, we can drive the highest levels of student achievement. The inclusive and collaborative process she embraces includes students, parents, families, all staff, business and community members.
Dr. Birdwell's breadth of expertise ranges from educational law to curriculum to finance. She has served as a Teacher, Department Chairperson, Coach, Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, Principal, Assistant Superintendent and Associate Superintendent. She is well versed across the educational organization and has received numerous awards including: Arizona School Administrators 2007 Outstanding Superintendent Fine Arts Award, American Association of School Administrators 2006 Richard D. Miller Award and the 2006 Outstanding Dissertation Award from the Arizona School Administrators Association.
She holds a Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision from Arizona State University, a Masters of Arts in English from Northern Arizona University and a Bachelor of Science in Education from Mayville State University in North Dakota.
