We are proud to offer a highly affordable program where children feel safe, nurtured and challenged. Kids Club provides school-age children before and after school care that is designed to support the Higley curriculum, highlight creative expression, and promote physical and social development.

Kids Club is licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services and our staff is dedicated and qualified. A variety of activities are offered including organized indoor and outdoor games, developmental centers, board games and puzzles, arts and crafts, and homework time. A morning and afternoon snack is provided for both the before and after school sessions.


Kids Club Summer Camp
HUSD Kids Club is proud to announce the start of registration for our seventh annual Kids Club Summer Camp. Registration will begin on Wednesday, April 7, 2010.

Summer camp will be held at Chaparral Elementary starting June 3, 2010 and will end on August 3, 2010. The hours of operation will be 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Camp will be open to all children ages 5 through 12. As always, Kids Club camp features a wide variety of exciting activities including sports, arts and crafts, science, cooking, field trips, swimming, and much more. Camp is available for both HUSD and non-HUSD students. Rate for camp is $30.00 per day. These rates include all field trips, swimming days, and special events. Kids Club Summer camp will provide a morning and afternoon snack. Lunch will be provided by parents/guardian.

Registration packets may be picked up at the Community Education office, or at your child’s Kids Club site. Registrations will be taken at the Communication Education office, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. For your convenience, the Community Education office will remain open for registrations until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13th and Thursday, April 29th.

Registration deadline for the first week, June 3-5th, is Tuesday May 25, 2010.

HUSD Recreation will be offering a variety of summer youth sports camps dedicated to developing and improving skills, and increasing physical wellness through physical activity. Sports camps offered will include basketball, soccer, volleyball, football, baseball, and cheerleading.

Young Explorers
Young Explorers is an academic support, enrichment, and retention prevention initiative that offers classes to students in elementary and middle school. Enrichment courses are taught by qualified vendors with proven effective activities and teaching techniques.

Young Explorers enrichment program offers a wide variety of classes to reinforce and expand academic content, enhance personal mastery, and promote physical wellness. Courses include art, chess, cheerleading, martial arts, dance and more.

Kids of the Arts
Community Education is continuing its very successful partnership with Higley Performing Arts Center and Copperstar Repertory Company by offering several summer musical and theatrical camps.

Higley Performing Arts Center is offering “Higley Summer Music Camp” open to all students, grades 4th through 9th.

   • Band for students entering grades 5th through 9th
   • Orchestra for students entering grades 4th through 9th
   • Vocal Music for students entering grades 5th through 9th

Registration may be done online or in person at the District Office. Registration deadline is May 15, 2010.

Summer Music Camp


Copperstar Repertory Company

FUNTALES is open to ages 5-8 and will offer our young actors the opportunity to tell stories of their favorite fairytales, nursery rhymes and folk tales through puppet theatre, imaginative play and pantomime.

THE MAGIC OF MUSICAL DISNEY is available to children ages 8-13 and will teach or young performers who know the basics, but want to learn more. Our professional staff will provide wonderful instructions in vocal production, movement and acting to Disney’s The Aristocats Kids and The Jungle Book Kids.

Disney’s ALADDIN JR. will be a full musical production open to ages 13-18. In this production, teenagers are invited to take a magical journey based on the popular 1992 Disney movie. These teens will enjoy professional direction by the Copperstar staff, focusing on singing, dancing, and acting skills. No previous experience needed to audition for the individual parts.

Driver Education Program
A Great New Team!

The Higley Unified School District Community Education department and All STAR Driver Education have teamed up to offer quality driver education instruction open to all members of our community!

Driver Education classes held conveniently on the 3rd Monday and Tuesday of the month from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. alternating monthly between your choice of Higley High School or Williams Field High School.
*The driver education program offered by HUSD Community Education is no longer eligible for high school credit.
The fee for in-class instruction only is $65.00. The classes consist of a total of 4 hours classroom time.

Behind-the-wheel only (6 hrs instruction) $279.00

Both classroom & behind-the-wheel $325.00

Certificates provided on successful completion of the in-class and/or behind the wheel instruction. Certificates can be presented at the MVD for a drivers permit for students at least 15 years, 7 months of age.

*Some insurance companies offer up to a 20% savings for participants in the All STAR Driver Education program!
