Higley Unified School District Announces Arizona Cardinals NFL Play 60 Challenge for San Tan Elementary
Gilbert, Arizona (December 16, 2009) – The Higley Unified School District’s San Tan Elementary has been selected by the Arizona Cardinals to participate in the NFL Play 60 Challenge.
Maureen Migacz, Principal of San Tan Elementary, stated,
“Our school was selected as one of only 10 schools in the state. What an honor for us!”
The program is for students in 4th-6th grades and operates over a 7-week timeline from February 22 to April 8, 2010.
The 6-week collaboration with the Cardinals will encourage students to keep a log of their physical activities. At the end of the challenge, the PE teachers will determine the 20 students the school will send to the reward field day event. The Cardinals will pay for the transportation to the Stadium for the field trip, which will be during the school day the week of April 19.
“I am so excited that your school was chosen, as I value the partnership you have with the American Heart Association,”
stated Theresa Rodriguez, Youth Market Director of the American Heart Association. Dr. Denise Birdwell, Superintendent of Higley Unified School District, added,
“This is a wonderful opportunity to partner with both the American Heart Association and the Arizona Cardinals to emphasize the importance of healthy, active lifestyles for our students and their families.”
