Power Ranch NJHS – Help for Haiti
Power Ranch's National Junior Honor Society recently teamed up with Aéropostale and DoSomething.org to collect used jeans for several charities. The first 100,000 jeans collected nationwide will be matched and donated to the victims in Haiti. Anything over 100,000 will be sent to local homeless shelters and charities. Power Ranch's amazing staff, students and families came together to donate over 1,000 pair of jeans to the San Tan Aéropostale store. When asked about the project Christina Cruz, an NJHS sponsor stated, "The students unanimously voted to help the victims in Haiti. This project fulfilled that decision and also added the benefit of helping local homeless families." Alisia, an NJHS member added, "My friend Madi found the add for Teens for Jeans on the Aéropostale website. Our school's NJHS decided to take on the project. We plastered posters around the school, sent home flyers and made announcements. We also decided to throw a donut party for the class that brought in the most jeans. We had 4 classes bring in over 100 pairs! Our school ended up donating 1130 pair!!" A huge heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to all who helped with this invaluable endeavor.
