Higley Unified School District (HUSD) is an open enrollment district. If a student resides out of the boundaries of a school, or out of the boundaries of the school district, an open enrollment application must be completed. Forms may be obtained at any school in the district or may be downloaded below.

Applications for open enrollment for the following school year must be submitted after February 1 but before the first Monday in March of the current school year. The school will notify the parent of the decision by June 1. The parent must confirm the acceptance of the open enrollment opportunity within fifteen (15) working days.
 
Open enrollment must be renewed annually.
 
If an application for open enrollment is denied or received after the first Monday in March, the parent may request the student be placed on a waiting list and will be considered on a first come, first serve basis.
 
Requests for students living outside the boundaries of HUSD, must submit the application to the principal of the school in which the student seeks to enroll.
 
Requests for students living within the boundaries of HUSD and wanting to enroll in a school other than their home school, must first submit the application to the principal of their home school. Once approved, the application will then need to be submitted to the principal at the school in which the student seeks to enroll.
 
Consideration for acceptance of an open enrollment application is based on:

• The physical capacity of the school building and classrooms;
 
Availability of staff (i.e. administrators, teachers, other certificated employees , related service providers);
 
Capacity in relevant special programs; and
 
Availability of other resources.
