Mission: Space is a Blast
Jacqui Flowers, a 7th grade science teacher at Coronado, attended Science Camp as part of the Honeywell Space Academy for Educators program this past summer. She has taken what she learned and created an elective class for our 7th graders this year, called Mission: Space. Over nine weeks, students learned about the history and future of space exploration through various activities, including designing a mission patch, building a lunar colony, Toys in Space study of gravity, and many others. As a final project, students had to design a Water Bottle Rocket, where they were given a budget and had to price out the materials and fuel costs in order to successfully launch their rocket. It was fantastic to see the students launch their rockets and show what they'd made to their peers!
